There’s been lots of commentary about the news that broke earlier this week about some high-profile people who cheated the US college application system on behalf of their children, with the help of a dodgy company. However, much of this has assumed a good level of familiarity with how applying to US universities works.

For those who don’t know the ins and outs of US admissions, I’ve put together a short episode of my podcast explaining what exactly has happened. At the end, I also offer my suggestions on how schools in the UK and Europe can ensure that their students are protected from these sorts of unscrupulous practices.
